2016 Headliners Revealed!

We are thrilled to announce our 2016 headliners.

Playing her only UK festival since the release of Divers, one of the albums of 2015, the dazzlingly talented Joanna Newsom will headline End of The Road with her harp-led sonic odyssey. In 2011 she entranced us with a truly magical headline performance, and we’re delighted to have her back to do it all over again. Joining Joanna in a 2016 UK festival exclusive, will be the mercurial and mesmerising singer-songwriter Cat Power. Playing with a full band, Chan Marshall’s famously raw live show is sure to captivate Larmer Tree Gardens.

Making their first ever appearance at End of The Road will be the technicolor, genre-hopping, experimental vocal harmonising one offs Animal Collective, who release their eagerly awaited tenth studio album Painting With featuring the likes of John Cale and Colin Stetson, later this month. Also playing End of The Road for the first time, we are very happy to welcome Bat for Lashes who has long been on the festival wish list with her unique brand of otherworldly pop. Fresh from her forays into 70s world psychedelia with Toy and Dan Carey last year, with the electrifying side project SEXWITCH, Natasha Khan is due to return as the much loved Bat with a new album in 2016 and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.

John Dwyer’s peerless Thee Oh Sees need no introduction. After their acclaimed 2015 album Mutilator Defeated At Last, the San Francisco legends bring their thrilling garage rock to this year’s festival. This year will also feature a rare appearance by masked psychedelic Swedish collective GOAT, set to deliver their signature joyous and intoxicating live show. End of The Road are also excited to welcome the alt-rock shaman Devendra Banhart who will also be playing at End of The Road for the first time.

Day Splits Revealed, Brakes and more added to 2015 Line-Up

It’s day splits time!

The Woods Stage will be headlined by Australia’s psych superstars Tame Impala on Friday, Sufjan Stevens playing his only European festival show on Saturday, and critics’ album of 2014 holders the War on Drugs on Sunday. Friday’s line up includes Django Django, LOW, and experimental electronic adventurer East India Youth.

On Saturday My Morning Jacket will play the Woods stage while the legendary Mark Lanegan Band headlines the now iconic Garden Stage as part of Heavenly Records 25th Birthday celebrations, which also features St Etienne performing their classic album Foxbase Alpha, while Sleaford Mods take the headline slot in the Big Top.

We are thrilled to welcome back festival veterans Brakes, who return to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their seminal 2005 debut Give Blood as we celebrates our 10 years. The Brighton four-piece first bought their riotous sounds to the festival in 2006 (and have played many times since), and we just know taking a trip back in time with ‘All Night Disco Party’ is going to be one of the weekend’s highlights. Completing Sunday’s bill, Future Islands will make the last night go off with a dancing bang while Laura Marling will bring the house back down to its roots as she headlines the Garden Stage.

MAMMÚT and Peter Matthew Bauer also join the bill.

Set times are revealed much closer to the festival, and are staggered in order to do all we can to help you avoid having to make those heartbreaking decisions. If it looks like a clash, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is. So don’t panic!

PHILL JUPITUS, ANDY ZALTZMAN AND SARA PASCOE CONFIRMED

RICHARD KING, GABRIELLE DRAKE & more for LIBRARY STAGE

We are  delighted to announce the literary and comedy line-ups for this year’s festival.

On the Comedy stage, panel show extraordinaire Phill Jupitus of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Porky The Poet fame will be joined by fellow serial panelist Sara Pascoe, alongside John Oliver’ political comedy partner Andy Saltzman. Robin Ince, presenter of BBC Radio show The Infinite Monkey Cage will also be joining them, bringing his informative hilarity to the festival.

The Library Stage will play host to Richard King, the author of the acclaimed history of independent labels How Soon Is Now? and music biographers Zoë Howe (The Jesus and Mary Chain Story and Stevie Nicks) and Rob Chapman (Syd Barrett) will explore a plethora of topics and their own work.

In recognition of folk legend Nick Drake, End of the Road is pleased to host a special celebration of his life. Nick’s sister Gabrielle Drake and Cally Callomon will be coming along to discus their recent book Remembered For A While, the authorised companion to the music of Nick Drake. Published by John Murray, the book shares anecdotes from Nick’s friends, critics, adherents, family and from Nick Drake himself. The talk may well be interspersed by some special guest performances.

The Comedy and Literature line-up adds to the already phenomenal 2015 bill, which includes Sufjan Stevens performing his only European festival this year on Saturday night, following Australia’s psych superstars Tame Impala on Friday. Sunday night will see the critics’ album of 2014 holders The War On Drugs play their only English summer festival this year, as well as anticipated performances from the likes of My Morning Jacket, Future Islands, Laura Marling, Django Django, Mac DeMarco and St Etienne performing their classic album Fox Base Alpha in full.
