Utilising unconventional instruments such as metallophones, synthesisers, harmoniums and a piano zither, Setting began life as improvisational sessions in 2021. With a focus on polyrhythmic flow and its correspondences to human circulatory and corporeal rhythms, the trio recorded their collective discoveries on debut album Shone a Rainbow Light On which Mojo listed as #3 of Underground Records of 2023, calling it “a record that spectacularly reconciles micro-detailed improv with deep-listening ambience.”
