Weaving folkloric moods with various shades of modern genres, Java’s Senyawa have been navigating unexplored musical terrain for more than a decade. Their sound comprises of Rully Shabara’s deep vocal explorations and instrument builder Wukir Suryadi’s modern-primitive arrangements. In May they release their highly-anticipated new album, Vajranala, via state51. Exploring tribal sounds with industrial music, the result is like no other. Ritualistic and bone-shakingly powerful, Senyawa are ones to watch.
