Sasami Ashworth is a musical polymath and a self-proclaimed “synth queen”. She’s been the keyboardist for the L.A. indie rockers Cherry Glazerr, scored short films and commercials, created orchestral compositions and collaborated in the studio with artists like Vagabon, Hand Habits, and Wild Nothing.
As a solo star, she has pushed herself even further: SASAMI is sensational self-titled debut solo record with guitars and synths coalescing together and the tracks inspired by, in her words, “Everyone I fucked and who fucked me last year.” Her dynamic debut single, “Callous,” got us excited and the record is brilliant, ranging from the soft pop of “I Was a Window” to the irresistible indie rock of “Not the Time”. She’s spent the last year opening for Mitski, Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, Japanese Breakfast, Liz Phair, the Breeders, and Blondie, just to name a few. She’s going to be one of the stars of this year’s festival.
