Newcomer Marina Allen’s triumphant Fire Records debut, Candlepower (2021) received rave reviews in Louderthanwar, FT and Loud & Quiet but the follow-up, Centrifics (2022) really put her on the radar. Channelling greats such as Laura Nyro, Karen Dalton and Joni Mitchell, yet in a league all of her own, Allen’s music is intricate, soulful and otherworldly. Artists like this don’t come around very often.
