John Francis Flynn’s revelatory new takes on traditional Celtic ballads, heavy with double tin whistles and cassette-tape loops are experimental and innovative. His set last year on the newly appointed Boat Stage in Effing Forest blew us all away, with the Guardian describing it as “a threatening thunderhead perforated with golden shafts of sunlight”, naturally we had to invite this true trailblazer back.
