FATOUMATA DIAWARA

Fatoumata Diawara established herself as one of the most vital figures in modern African music on the strength of her remarkable debut, Fatou (2011). Boldly experimental yet rooted in her heritage, Diawara’s music is a majestic expression of African womanhood. Aside from her own impressive discography, she has also collaborated on Damon Albarn’s Africa Express and contributed vocals to albums by Cheikh Lô, AfroCubism, as well as Herbie Hancock’s Grammy-winning Imagine Project and Orchestra Poly Rythmo de Cotonou.
