Big Joanie are a black feminist punk band. They sound like The Ronettes filtered through 80s DIY and 90s riot grrrl, with a sprinkling of dashikis – and are as wonderful as that sentence makes them sound. Their debut album Sistahs is a bold record full of crunching riffs and big melodies – eleven tracks which see them tackle society’s issues whilst touching on friendships and melancholic memories. It’s been on constant rotation at EOTR HQ. They’ve supported Bikini Kill and we can’t wait for them to play here.
