The Scottish producer/composer/singer-songwriter Anna Meredith – MBE! – might well be the only musician to have played both the first and last night of the Proms and SXSW. Classically trained but with a hell of a knack for a pop earworm, last year’s FIBS – following up her brilliant debut, Varmints – was a daring, glorious record full of energy and limitless ideas. These were dynamic songs that sounded thrillingly chaotic but were meticulously controlled. Her live shows are brilliant fun – she played here in 2016 to a rapturous crowd and recent shows have seen her treat fans to a medley of Daniel Bedingfield’s ‘Gotta Get Thru This’, Abba’s ‘Lay All Your Love on Me’ and Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’. Get ready for a party.
