Starcrawler

None other than Elton John played Starcrawler’s debut single “Ants” on his Beats1 radio show, Rocket Hour. High praise indeed – and it’s not hard to see why he loved it. It’s packed with explosive riffs and the confident and bewitching vocals of frontwoman Autumn de Wilde – and it’s been described as “if T-Rex and Bauhaus had offspring.”

The Los Angeles four-piece haven’t yet had chance to follow that up with a debut album (they’re currently recording it with Ryan Adams) but we’re more than excited. They’ve already opened for fellow End of the Road debutantes The Lemon Twigs in LA and their raucous sound — with fierce shredding of guitarist Henri Cash and the groove of bassist Tim Franco — is a mix of head banging heavy rock and de Wilde’s deliciously evil stage antics, (she stalks the stage in a straight jacket and rhinestone-encrusted jockstrap). We’re fairly certain you won’t see another show like it all weekend.
