With their blistering sound and razor sharp guitars, post-punk four-piece Savages recall the tenacity of London’s post-punk prime. But it’s a sound that’s all their own – complicated, yet raw and brutal. Their debut Silence Yourself cut through the noise with its uncompromising poise and they followed it up this year with the equally mesmeric Adore Life, which took that first album and made it bigger and bolder and more human. And their frenetic live shows are where everything makes most sense. The band all dressed in black, frontwoman Jehnny Beth one of the most arresting singers we’ve seen. There’s a magnetic intensity it’s impossible to resist. So don’t even try.
