Honey Harper

William Fussell is an Atlanta-born artist making country music in London under the Honey Harper moniker (he previously fronted a synth-pop group called Mood Rings, and has released a cassette of avant-pop songs under the name Promise Keeper). His latest persona sees him releasing Universal Country, his debut EP, which sees him challenging the notions of what country music means. We think he describes the sound best: “like The Carpenters and Simon Garfunkel having a baby, and then Merle Haggard and Townes Van Zandt made a baby”.

This is cosmic, celestial country music with lyrics blunt yet elegant, minimalist yet packed with details.
