As Cut Worms, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Max Clarke makes beautiful, wistful soft rock, that at different times recalls Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen or even the Beach Boys. Now signed to Jagjaguwar, his first full-length EP, Alien Sunset, was produced by Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado and songs such as “Like Going Down Sideways” takes you away to another world. His most recent song “Till Tomorrow Goes Away” might be even better.
The same is true of his live shows. To see Cut Worms play live is to be transported to a warm and welcoming place. He’s already supported some of our favourites, Foxygen and The Lemon Twigs, and we can’t wait for him to bring his springtime tunes to Larmer Tree for late summer.
